What is Invisalign?

Orthodontic treatment can help to correct a range of dental problems, such as overcrowding, crookedness, misalignment and even uneven spacing. However, if you want to straighten your teeth without the bulk of traditional braces, we offer Invisalign to help in correcting your smile. Invisalign has been used for years to improve the look and feel of patients’ smiles worldwide.

What Is Invisalign
Why Is Invisalign Needed

Why is Invisalign needed?

Invisalign is best at treating mild to moderate orthodontic problems. The system uses a series of clear trays which are called aligners. These aligners are removable and should be taken out whenever you eat or brush your teeth. They have to be worn for about 22 hours or more each day in order for the treatment to work effectively. Invisalign is ideal for crowded teeth, crookedness, misalignment, overbites, under bites and other orthodontic problems.

Who’s a candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign is most suitable for older teens and adults who can commit to wearing their aligner trays. Younger children and teens may remove the trays and not replace them often enough. This prolongs treatment and prevents the teeth from being corrected properly. Invisalign is ideal for most patients who want or need this type of treatment.

Expected With Invisalign Treatment

What can be expected with Invisalign treatment?

We begin the Invisalign process with a consultation and examination. We take x-rays and other special images to determine if and when you’d benefit the most from this procedure. Next, we’ll take impressions of your teeth and use these molds to make your first set of aligners. The Invisalign needs to be worn for 22 hours or longer each and every day. You will then come back into the office after a few weeks so that new aligners can be made for you. Most patients will go through many aligners by the time treatment has been finished. Invisalign is a great choice for patients wanting to undergo orthodontic care, but who may be putting it off because of the bulk of traditional braces. Invisalign is clear and virtually invisible when you’re speaking and smiling.
