Teeth Whitening

What is Teeth Whitening?

It’s not uncommon for patients to be unhappy with the color of their smile. Over time and with certain habits, teeth can take on a yellowed and dull appearance. Unfortunately, stained and discolored teeth can cause you to look older than you are and make your teeth look unhealthy. We offer professional whitening that is designed to lift and dissolve stains so that a brilliant smile is revealed.

Why is Teeth Whitening needed?

You can request professional whitening at any time and for any reason. Most often, patients want to whiten their teeth before a big event, like a wedding or reunion. You might want to whiten your teeth before having other restorations placed. Likewise, it’s not uncommon for patients to simply want to enhance their confidence by having professional whitening done.

Who’s a candidate for Teeth Whitening?

Even professional whitening won’t have an impact on current restorations that you have in your mouth. It will not change the color of fillings, crowns, bridges or veneers. However, if you’re healthy enough to undergo whitening and if you’ve been to see a dentist in the last year, the procedure is right for you. It’s most suited for adults who are free of other dental or oral problems.

What Happens During The Teeth Whitening Procedure

What happens during the Teeth Whitening procedure?

We begin the process by taking impressions of your teeth. These molds are then used to make whitening trays that you’ll utilize at home. We will send you home with a special whitening gel that is placed inside of these trays. The trays are worn for a specified period of time and then removed. It’s important that you rinse the trays well so that they are clean and ready for the next use. You will probably need to follow through with treatment for about two weeks and then can use these trays to touch up your results all throughout the year.
