What’s a Dental Crown?
We offer porcelain, ceramic and even same-day CEREC crowns to help improve your smile. Crowns help to build up teeth that have broken, cracked, fractured or that have large fillings. Crowns can last for years and even decades with the proper care. They are made specifically for each patient so that the fit is comfortable and even.
Why would Dental Crowns be needed?
Crowns are made to help enhance a patient’s smile while helping to take care of issues with functionality. They are incredibly beneficial in what they do and are matched to the rest of your smile so that they’re seamless. Some reasons that a crown might be needed include:
- A tooth has broken, cracked or fractured
- A tooth has a large area of decay
- A tooth has a large, old filling in it
- An implant was recently placed
- You had a root canal done recently
Who’s a candidate for a Dental Crown?
We will conduct an examination to decipher if and when a crown might be needed. Crowns are ideal for patients who have damaged or compromised teeth. CEREC crowns are best suited for patients who are unable to make several trips into the office to complete the crown procedure. Your new crown can last for decades with the proper care.
What can you expect with the Dental Crown procedure?
We begin by filing down the damaged tooth so that it can fit the crown perfectly. Impressions are taken and used to make both a temporary and permanent crown. For our CEREC crowns, we take digital impressions and make the permanent crown during your initial appointment. For regular crowns, you’ll come back into the office to have the permanent one placed. We then make any adjustments to the crown that might be needed and you’ll be ready to leave the office enjoying the look and feel of your brand new smile.
